Daryl grew up in San Jose California. His mother was active in Gospel Concert Promotions, and Daryl fell in love with Gospel Music at an early age. He remembers
vividly spending time as a child with such Gospel legends as Doris Akers, Jake Hess
and Vestal Goodman.
Gospel music was alive and well in California during his childhood, producing such artists as the
Edwin Hawkin Singers, Andrae Crouch,
the Archers, Danniebelle,
Nancy Harmon, Lillie Knawels and the
Hinsons. All of these artists had a profound impact on Daryl's music ministry. It was at the age of 7 that Daryl decided he wanted to write his first song. There are now over 1100 songs in his catalog.
Daryl went on to study music at California State University, and received a
Bachelor's degree in Music. After College Daryl went on the road with the
Blackwood Brothers Quartet, playing piano and singing back up vocals.
In 1987 Daryl moved to Los Angeles and became the full time Music Pastor at
Calvary Assembly of God in Stanton California. He directed a 60 voice choir and
produced several musical productions a year for the church. He directed the music for
a anti drug rally in 1990 for President George Bush.
In 1991 Daryl moved to Nashville TN, and joined the legendary
Speer Family as
their tenor singer. In 1998 he was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame
as a member of the Speers.
From 1994 to 2008 Daryl traveled full time with his own ministry team, the Daryl
Williams Trio. They recorded 10 CD's and appeared on many Gaither Homecoming
Videos and Concerts. They also appeared as regulars for 7 years on TBN's Unfolding
Majesty program with hosts Dean and Mary Brown.
Daryl continues to write music today with several #1 national chart songs to his credit. He is currently under contract as an exclusive writer for Daywind Music Group in Nashville Tennessee. His songs have been recorded by the Gaither Vocal Band, Gold City, the Booth Brothers the Speers, the Cathedrals, the
Nelons, Jimmy Swaggart, the Talleys, the Inspirations, Karen Peck and New River, the Pfeifers, Brian Free and Assurance, Lulu Roman, the Kingsmen, the Greenes, Larnelle Harris and many others.
Daryl currently lives in Prattville Alabama and is a proud single father of three children,
