Today's Quote

INTERCEDE for people in positions of power. Go to a seat of power - a courthouse, city hall, a federal building. Pray that Christians will have influence there.

Prayer Exercise: At dinner, name God's blessings. Trace His hand. Ask, "Do we have all these things by our hand, or from the hand of God?" Teach your children to rely not on you, but on God!

 

Praying

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth" (Gen. 1:28).

Dear God, how could I have so misunderstood prayer? I have seen prayer in such a narrow way, primarily as a requisition system for things I want and feel that I need. That You pursue me is a radically new notion for me. Have I missed You? Have I been so proccupied with myself that I failed to take notice of Your presence? Forgive me. Forgive me for ever seeing You as a grudging giver. At the first encounter with conscious man, You came to him. And You came blessing. What blessings have I missed by failing to answer when you called? I have been asking You for help, as if I only needed supplemental assistance. You want to bless, to make my life fruitful not only at the level of addition, but of multiplication. You want to give me dominion, to enable me to be more than a match for the challenges of life. To reign in life.; To be more than a conqueror, not a victim. It is not a powerless life You had in mind for Your creation. Teach me to welcome Your initiation. Don't let me miss encounters with You. If You still come walking through our earthly gardens, calling our names, then Lord, come to my garden. Pursue me. Speak and let me hear You clearly. Grace me with the capacity to obey. Reveal Yourself. Bless me, Lord, that I might be a blessing. Position me. And let me use any power You give me for noble causes. Amen
