PRAYING
. . . children back to God!
Your sons will come from afar . . . and your heart will thrill and rejoice (Isa. 60:4-5 NASB).
God, you have been so good to us! Almost two billion people around the earth call you Lord. In some nations, churches burst with people hungry to hear the story for the first time. Even a few years ago, we could have never imagined spirit-filled churches with thousands of worshippers. But there is a sadness. Some of us have lost our sons and daughters from the faith. They are not raising our grandchildren to honor You. They have separated basic morality from You, the Lawgiver. We believe that You stand with eyes tracing the horizon, longing for sons and daughters to return. You will welcome them. You will declare them Your own. Please God, send forth the sound of the trumpet. They will hear it. They know the sound. Whisper to them in the night. Dance into their dreams. Awaken their need for You. Some were scattered by divorces. Some were wounded in some way. Some need great grace to forgive Christians in order to get to You. They have told us, “Don’t talk to us about that anymore!” We feel helpless. But You honor no such gag order. Go near them, dear Lord. Love them. Tenderly call them back to You. Rescue them for the prosperity that numbs them. Lift them from the danger they daily dance with in some broken down apartment building. We are watching the horizon with You, expecting, hoping, praying, calling their names. We long to see them in Your arms. Save our sons and daughters. Don’t let them die without You. Amen.
