PRAYING
. . . for a global revival!
Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted . . . He has done excellent things; let this be known throughout the earth (Isa. 12:4-5 NASB).
Father, we are hearing of gatherings of prayer around the world with numbers that stagger our minds. Tens of thousands, and in some cases more than a hundred thousand gathered in one place simply to pray. We are amazed. Even perplexed. We call prayer meetings and few show up. You are worthy of such honor here. On this side of town and the other side of the earth, Your name should be praised. Forgive us for our prayerlessness, Forgive us for thinking that our sophisticated methods, our religious technology, our well-oiled organizations could do what only Your Spirit can accomplish. Ignite a movement of prayer in our land. Start with our church. Start with me. History informs us that every Great Awakening was first a movement of prayer. Not only are we praying too little, we are praying far too small. Help us lay aside the prayers for our narrow slices of pain and pray colossal prayers that are worthy of the enormous wave of grace You long to send like a tsunami through our community. Give us a vision for united prayer. Not only whole churches full of praying Christians, but the largest venue in town with standing room only. By faith, help us to hear the roar of voices lifted, pleading with heaven to send what earth can’t produce – a community-transforming revival. Amen.
