PRAYING
… for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit!
For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; …My Spirit on your descendants … They will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses. One will say, “I am the Lord’s”; … another will write with his hand, “The Lord’s,” and name himself by the name of Israel (Isa. 44:3-5)
Lord, beaten up by Babylon, Your people longed to boldly identify with You. The effect of compromise was so clear that they were now ready for really risky living – identity with Your name even if they had to stand down the whole earth. You promised to pour water on thirsty ground, to open a way where there was none. They asked, and You did. You raised the nation from the dead. We ask that You do it for us. May we openly identify with Your name. Restore standards of righteousness in our nation. Before we fall, give us another chance at revival. We know a godly nation demands godly people. Start the change in us, Lord. Pour out Your Spirit on us. Let it rain until dry places in our city are flooded with holy influence. Let the river of Your grace flow to dead places, places of pain and poverty. In unkempt places, littered not only by debris but by throwaway people, being the beauty of wholeness. Let people flower forth with new life like the spring wildflowers that decorate barren hillsides when winter’s power is broken. Out of the rubble of our cities, bring forth a generation of Christian champions. Let them, the fatherless, proudly declare You as Father. Give them a destiny that changes the world. Amen.
