PRAYING
… like a lover!
Draw me away! . . . We will run after you. . . . The king has brought me into his chambers (Song of Solomon 1:4).
Jesus, I have forgotten what it was like when you found me. I have forgotten the fresh feeling when you washed my sins away. Years have passed and I have failed to keep the memory of that moment alive. With a new heart, the whole world seemed different. I have the power to begin again. In those days, I ran after You. You were the lover of my soul. I read the Bible like a love letter. I hung on the words of those who taught about Your ways. No price was too great to pay. No condition too great. I tossed aside the world and its things. You were the one who made my heart sing. You were my pear of great price. Dear Jesus, something has happened to me. And something has happened to Your church. Renew our love. Rekindle the passion. We are still faithful, but we are no longer passionate. We no longer run. We no longer listen for the latest news of Your dashing and daring adventures into our time-space world. We no longer pine for Your return as if we cannot live another day with the separation. Your true bride longs for You. Forgive us for becoming comfortable in this world. Forgive us not keeping fresh the memory of our salvation experience. We rejoice over the wrong things. Teach us again to taste our own tears as we realize how precious the gift of saving grace is. We didn’t deserve it. But You came. You not only saved us; You fell in love with us. What a God! O, dear Jesus, may we recover our love for You. Amen.
